Eve Sleep is an e-commerce website that sells premium sleep products, particularly focusing on mattresses. It is known for its award-winning mattress designs that promote comfortable and restorative sleep. The website features a range of sleep solutions, including mattresses with contour zones for better body alignment, pillows, bed frames, and other bedding accessories.

The company aims to deliver high-quality sleep products directly to consumers, making the process of purchasing mattresses and other sleep essentials seamless and convenient online. With a focus on enhancing sleep quality, Eve Sleep appeals to customers who value both comfort and wellness in their sleep routine.

I have been involved in redevelopment of the Eve Sleep website using the Shopify Dawn theme and utilizing the latest Shopify 2.0 features.

Challenge

The existing website was outdated and lacked modern features, flexibility, and performance optimizations. The client needed a more dynamic and customizable theme with faster load times, enhanced mobile responsiveness, and improved SEO. Additionally, they wanted to implement new Shopify 2.0 features to streamline their content management process and improve overall user experience.

Solution

Led the redevelopment using Shopify’s Dawn theme, taking full advantage of Shopify 2.0 features like flexible sections, metafields, and enhanced content management capabilities. Focused on improving the site’s structure for better performance, faster loading times, and a mobile-first design approach. Applied Shopify 2.0’s native SEO features and optimized images and scripts for better performance.

Result

The client experienced a 20% increase in organic traffic due to improved SEO, and the easier content management system resulted in faster turnaround times for updates and content changes. Additionally, the site’s enhanced performance contributed to 2,000+ additional bookings per month.

My responsibilities

- Customized the Shopify Dawn theme to align with the brand’s aesthetics and improve user experience.

  • Adjusted colors to align with the brand's identity, ensuring a cohesive look throughout the site.

  • Selected and implemented fonts that reflect the brand’s voice, including headings, body text, and buttons.

  • Chose and optimized images that resonate with the target audience, enhancing the visual appeal.

  • Created or modified sections on the homepage, such as hero banners, featured products, and promotional blocks, to highlight key offerings.

  • Organized product collections with custom layouts, grid settings, and filtering options to improve user navigation.

  • Added or modified Shopify sections (using Liquid and JSON) to allow for dynamic content placement, enabling non-technical users to easily update content.

  • Created unique sections for testimonials, blog posts, or FAQs to enhance engagement.

  • Designed a user-friendly navigation menu, including dropdowns, mega menus, and breadcrumb trails to improve site usability.

  • Implemented quick links to key pages (e.g., contact, about, shipping policy) in the footer for easier access.

  • Ensured that all elements are mobile-friendly and that the design adapts seamlessly across various screen sizes and devices.

  • Used media queries and flexible layouts to enhance the mobile experience.

  • Added animations, hover effects, and other interactive features to engage users and improve the overall experience.

  • Implemented calls to action (CTAs) strategically throughout the site to guide users toward desired actions.

  • Structured HTML elements for optimal SEO performance, ensuring proper heading hierarchy and image alt tags are included.

  • Ensured that URLs and metadata align with SEO best practices.

- Integrated Shopify 2.0 features, such as sections and blocks, to enhance the flexibility and functionality of the site.

  • Developed new custom sections tailored to the specific needs of the Eve Sleep brand, such as Hero Section, Featured Products Section, Testimonials Section.

  • Implemented dynamic blocks within sections, enabling content changes on the fly. For example, added or rearranged product blocks within a featured collection without affecting other site elements. Also, customized text blocks for promotions or seasonal offers easily.

  • Created user-friendly settings for each section, allowing non-technical users to update content, adjust images, and modify layouts through the Shopify admin interface.

  • Ensured that section settings included options for background colors, image uploads, and text input, making it easy for the client to personalize their site.

- Optimized product pages with high-quality images, detailed descriptions, and customer reviews.

- Conducted performance testing and optimization, focusing on loading times and overall site speed.

- Utilized tools like Google PageSpeed Insights to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
